It is with reluctance that the Board of Trustees has had to inform the Tertiary Education Commission that the College will not be offering courses for Adult Learners in 2010. The Government cut in funding by 80% makes it impossible for courses to be self-managing and self-funding. In some cases just to break financially even we would have to triple the cost of a course. At this time, this is unreasonable. I thank all those who have been tutors at the school, all those people who have attended courses and especially Sue Hawkins, Continuing Education Co-ordinator for the magnificent job she has done for ACE over the past 18 years. Despite our petitions, letters to parliament and meetings with the Minister the funding will be withdrawn. It is certainly a sad loss of a Community event that the College has been pleased to offer over the years. Thank you for all your support of our endeavours to have this funding decision overturned.
